Today the checklist
Says "haiku" - so I haiku,
Though it's a bit blah.
Show up at the page
And see what finds its way out.
It's all I can do.
Feeling a bit grot,
Procrastinating "real" work
Playing at living.

Isn't it always the way?
It's like the buses -
You hang around for days, then
Three turn up at once!

Retroku
A bit of quiet
To record the dawn chorus
Too much to ask for?
To record the dawn chorus
Too much to ask for?
Out at four thirty.
In the space of five minutes:
Three cars, two planes.
In the space of five minutes:

Saved into my Drafts folder on 28th May.
Slab and grue
Sneezing hugely, I
Reprise Anne's April haiku:
The one about snot. :(
Searching for photos
In the gmail drafts folder
I find two haiku!
Which just goes to show:
You never know what you'll find
When you declutter.

It's that month again
Daily haiku fail
Weekly is not much better
Think we've lost the plot.
Look on the bright side:
It could be worse; we could be
NaNoWriMo-ers.

Work still to do
Declutter daily
That's what the FlyLady said.
Well, I can but try...
As Yoda said, "Do,
Or do not; there is no 'try'."
So there is still mess...
(Though all is not lost:
Procrastination ensures
There is still haiku. :-)

Philosophy
Cor, what a question!
"What is truth?" Now you're asking.
Depends what you mean.
Which truth do you mean?
Objective or subjective?
Can we ever know?

So much for a new leaf
As Marvin said: "Life?
Don't talk to me about life."
Shit done hit the fan.
That was a pity;
In the ensuing bustle
I forgot the blog.
No haikus again.
Rename it "Haikuless blog"
At least that's truthful!

Where have all the haiku gone?
Eight months, forgotten;
Poor little haiku blog
Does nobody care?
Back in December
The plan was to post daily:
Over ambitious.
Realism rules.
September's resolution:
Try to post weekly!

One week on
Understatement: this
wasn't the easiest week.
But now it's over.
As the dust settles,
The snail is back in its shell.
We moved; so did "home".
[Oh, and by the way -
Finally found the notebook.
It was in the car. :) ]

Random on a Monday
Will furniture fit?
Dunno. Can't find my notebook
(It's probably packed!)
Nasty bonfire stink
Someone is burning plastic
All bloody morning.
Not enough boxes
(of the right size for the books)
Will have to buy more.
The tap is replaced.
It isn't very pleasant
But at least no flood.
Alienation.
It's not our house any more.
So why should we care?

A time for everything
Blog abandoned.
The time for haiku - not now.
Too much else to do!
A surreal week
Promises laughter, sadness,
In equal measure.

Moving equation:

AND the horse it rode in on.
Let me get this straight:
pain and inconvenience,
maybe for two years,
to stop doing what
I never wanted to do
back when it started?

Getting back to normal
The snot has now gone,
Ditto the chest infection
And the pleurisy.
I've been in the sun,
Gardening and then a walk.
Getting fit again.
I walked for an hour
and started at six thirty,
in evening's cool.
Bluebells in the wood
under bright light green of leaves.
Springtime at its best!

Silence
The phone is screening
E-mails remain unanswered.
Where is my big sis?
Has the snot monster
Returned to wreak its vengeance?
I really hope not!

Head Cold
The snot runs freely
Is interspersed by sneezes
And coughs and wheezes.
The end of winter,
Immune system is flagging.
I am easy prey!
Invasion by bugs.
They multiply, run riot,
They're unwanted guests!
Temperature goes up.
I sweat and then I shiver
Appetite has gone.
I wheeze and I cough,
Involuntarily share
My cold with others.
It's three days coming,
Three with me and another
Three days to leave me.
But what is a day?
Sneezes, snot and a fever
Mess about with time.
The sore throat has gone,
Nausea and headache too.
So it runs its course.
In the meantime I
Feel sorry for myself and
Long for summer sun.
Is interspersed by sneezes
And coughs and wheezes.

Seen on a Cushion Cover
Peace when thou comest,
And when thou goest may thy
Footsteps echo peace.
What is amazing
Is that it is a haiku.
They are everywhere :D

Breaking Silence (better than breaking wind :D)
I click on this blog,
And silence flows from my screen.
No activity.
Blank screen before me.
Endless possibilities.
Fingers poised o'er keys.
Mind works, fingers tap,
Creativity begins.
From nothing, something.
Many words appear,
Black lines on white screen. Silent.
Until I read them.
In my mind I hear,
The words as if they're spoken.
Silence is broken.
Anyone to hear
another rhyming haiku?
Come, chuckle with me :)

Clean bottles!
Wiggle the arm and
the dishwasher works again.
Milk bottles are clean!
No filter blockage.
No gummed-up holes in the arm.
It wasn't on right!
I took the arm off.
Then clipped it back into place.
Now freely turning.
Hot soapy water
Can spray onto everything.
It works as designed.

Nothing delicate about this...
Afternoon baking
Siren song of Northern cake
We now have Parkin.
No soft Southern stuff
But oatmeal, lard, and no egg.
This growls from the pan.
Dark, moist and chewy,
More Yorkshire than Lancashire.
Need more recipes. :)
The recipe is on the other blog. :)

Quiet, but on the move
Spring is in the air
Blackbirds now sing at first light
The wind is dropping
The last nights were cold
Early sun gave way to rain
(And hail, yesterday)
Yet still, there is change.
Spring it is a-coming in;
Needs to get a move on! :)

Relief
Scan results arrived.
A blue and white envelope.
I started to shake.
On opening it,
Brain could not comprehend words.
Deep breath! Try again
and it is ok.
Relief floods through me. I cry
but only briefly.
Into the garden
I stand in the warm sunshine.
The birds are singing.

Misery
A few unkind words
And my world comes crashing down.
I want Dez back here.
But he can't be here.
I need to pick myself up
and keep on going.
Yes, I can do this
but I miss all that he was.
Life with him was fun.
Life can be fun now.
I need to work out how and
not expect too much.

Monday morning faffing
Overcast today.
Church bells ringing in something -
First day of half term?
Paul is in training;
Prue off to collect her car;
Sarah to find arse.
Sans arse, one finds it
Difficult to get through life.
(And legs can drop off.)
Not sure where it went;
It was here all Janu'ry.
Then it buggered off!
No get up and go.
I have a round Tu-It, but
It isn't the same.
(Those things raise a smile
But don't have any effect
On motivation.)
Need to Get Stuff Done.
The sticks and carrots don't work;
It's arse or nothing.
[Note: for anyone boggling at the above, it stems from the phrase "I can't be arsed," that is, "I can't be bothered". This led on to "I've lost my arse" as a description for the feeling of ennui that saps the desire to do anything, and things just went downhill from there.]

Sunday
The sun is shining
But the wind is still chilly
Calm between the storms.
Post-breakfast spodding,
Trying to find my lost arse.
Think it might have drowned.
(Paul has just told me
Ash is a type of olive.
I am underwhelmed.)
The sun is nice, but
Outdoors is unappealing.
Blame the winter air.

What? No car?
Friday ends early.
Record Office all went home.
Car locked in car park!
Padlocked barrier.
Number is withheld from us.
Paranoia rules.
I caught the bus home.
Four pounds fifty to my door.
I'm here. Car is there.
I'll bus on Monday
Then we'll be reunited
Little car and I.

Change the story?
Beat not yourself up!
Haiku blog's a bit of fun!!
Chill out, sister mine.
You want to write more?
Put it in your diary
for same day each week.
Only by doing
this will habit develop.
Give it its own time.
Honour haiku blog
the same as you would your work.
All needs attention.

Whole week without an update
Points to lack of arse.
I have no excuse.
Other things are going on;
But that's always true.
Lack of commitment:
Always my besetting sin.
Will try to improve!

Meditation
Sitting in silence
Birch bark pattern on curtains
Heralding fresh start.
The river flows on
I skate across the surface
Can't seem to break through.
It's all just weather.
Sit with patient endurance
Focus on the breath.

The end of the week.
No emails not even spam.

All computers will be on.
Spam will flow again.

Patience is a Virtue?
Little haiku blog
Always patiently waits for
One of us to post.
Neither will it mind
If we split infinitives
Or miss the season.
This haiku blog is
Very accepting of our
Peccadiloes. No?

Winter beauty
Wisley in winter...
Butterflies in orchid house.
Do you want to go?
If we meet up there
Don't let me drink the coffee.
It's real 'giddy juice'.
One mug and I'll be
Mimicking the butterflies
Flitting here and there!

Death came for the healer
HabitRPG:
Game to aid motivation.
Fun, allegedly.
Stressed developers;
Latest updates spread the love
Now we're all stressed too.
Quests! Classes! New kit!
Lots of new shiny things but
Basics ceased to work.
Call me old fashioned:
Prefer content over style.
Demotivated.
The consequences:
Lost gold, kit and a level.
I am not best pleased.
Strangely, this result
Provided motivation.
So it works - sort of.

Shakespeare Comes to Haiku
Now is the season
Of our discontent made worse
By Google's errors!
Dwelling on errors
Of the computerish kind
Shuts out the season.
But time is passing.
No heating for past two hours!
Winter creeps back in.
Coldth arrives by stealth
Chilling feet, creeping up legs.
Time to thaw in bed!
Farewell dear sister!
Parting is such sorrow but
Haiku tomorrow.
A few extra points
For a rhyme in the haiku?
This is so much fun!!! :D

An invitation

"Expect more errors".
Takes more than errors
to keep me from haikuing.

Save me from technology
Can't blog in IE,
Can't post comments in Firefox -
Bloody web browsers!
There's no doubt Google
Would rather we all use Chrome.
Buggy piece of crap.
Out to get us, and
Force us to use shite software.
Pass my tin-foil hat!

The Wisdom of Doing Nothing
When I am not here
My silence helps you create
Many cool haiku! :)
When I am not here
You haiku for both of us.
So I do my part :D
Reading the above
I pause. Is 'haiku' a verb?
If not, it is now! :D
My dearest sister
Apologies for haikus
Are they good enough?
Yes, the middle line
Has two meanings. Choose your own
interpretation ;)

Unquiet night
Car alarm meltdown
90 minutes' sleep all night.
Hardly neighbourly!
People with alarms:
Get them checked regularly
Or don't turn them on!
Sounds too obvious?
But common sense is misnamed.
So! Bring me my axe...
